Ingredients
- 2 c. milk
- 1/2 c. shortening
- 1 egg
- 4 tsp. sugar
- 1 tsp. salt
- 1 pkg. yeast
Method
- Scald milk and pour over shortening.
- Let cool.
- Dissolve yeast and 1 teaspoon sugar in 1/2 cup warm water.
- Add about 3 1/2 cups of flour (not too stiff a dough).
- Let rise an hour or more, stirring down once.
- Roll out and cut or twist.
- Let rise on board for 30 to 45 minutes.
- Fry, top side down.
