- 1 lb. ground chuck
- 1 tsp. salt
- 1 tsp. sugar
- 1 tsp. oregano leaves
- 1/2 tsp. basil leaves
- 1/4 tsp. garlic powder
- 1/8 tsp. ground black pepper
- 1 bay leaf
- 1 (28 oz.) can tomatoes
- 16 oz. tomato sauce
- 1/2 c. water
Method
- Brown ground chuck in large skillet over moderate heat until it loses its pink color, breaking up with large spoon as it cooks. Stir in rest of ingredients.
- Bring to a boil, stirring.
- Reduce heat and simmer, covered, for 15 minutes.
- Makes 6 cups sauce. Serve over cooked spaghetti.
