Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 lb. pork meat, trimmed of extra fat and cut into serving pieces
  • 1 large can hominy (maiz)
  • 1 head garlic
  • chile California seasonings to taste (this is milder than most)
  • variety of vegetables
  • lemon/salt (optional)

Method

  • In a large pot, put enough water to cover pork and hominy. Place garlic (whole cloves) in pot. Bring to boil, then reduce heat to medium and continue cooking until cooked. Add the seasonings. Cook 5 minutes more, stirring frequently to blend flavors. Serve with sliced radishes, diced onions, chopped lettuce, a dash of oregano or lemon and salt for extra flavor. Can also be served with tostadas. Serves 2 to 4.
