Ingredients
- 1 cake yeast
- 1/2 c. lukewarm water
- 5 Tbsp. sugar
- 1/2 c. butter or other shortening
- 1 c. hot milk
- 1 c. hot mashed potatoes
- 1 egg, well beaten
- 1 tsp. salt
- 6 c. sifted flour
Method
- Though pie fillings typically bake in an unbaked shell, it's best to partially bake the pastry before adding most milk-based custard fillings.
- If these are poured in an unbaked crust, you may end up with soggy pastry.
