Ingredients

  • 1 large onion, chopped
  • 2 Tbsp. butter
  • 10 c. water
  • 6 c. cabbage, chopped
  • 4 c. potatoes, peeled and diced
  • 3 chicken bouillon cubes
  • 1/2 tsp. pepper
  • 1/2 tsp. garlic, dried (if desired)
  • 4 c. cooked ham, cubed

Method

  • In a large soup kettle, saute onion in butter until tender. Add water, cabbage, potatoes, bouillon cubes, pepper and garlic. Cover and simmer for 20 to 25 minutes.
  • Stir in ham.
  • Makes 12 to 14 servings.
