Ingredients

  • 4 (1/2-inch thick) pork chops
  • 2 chicken bouillon cubes
  • 1 to 1 1/4 tsp. salt
  • 1/2 tsp. sugar
  • 1 medium carrot, chopped
  • mashed potatoes (optional)
  • 1 Tbsp. vegetable oil
  • 1 1/2 c. boiling water
  • 1/2 tsp. pepper
  • 2 medium stalks celery, chopped
  • 1 Tbsp. all-purpose flour

Method

  • Brown pork chops on both sides in hot oil in a large skillet; drain pan drippings.
  • Put bouillon cubes in boiling water; stir until dissolved.
  • Stir in remaining ingredients; pour over pork chops in skillet.
  • Bring to a boil; cover and simmer for 1 hour or until tender.
  • Serve over mashed potatoes if desired.
  • Yields 4 servings.
