Ingredients

  • 1 pkg. dry yeast
  • 1 tsp. ginger
  • 1 Tbsp. sugar
  • 2 Tbsp. sugar
  • 1 (13 oz.) can evaporated milk
  • 1 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 2 Tbsp. oil
  • 4 to 4 1/2 c. flour

Method

  • Dissolve yeast, ginger, 1 tablespoon sugar and water in a warm bowl until it bubbles about 10 minutes.
  • Then add 2 tablespoons sugar, evaporated milk, salt and oil.
  • Add flour one cup at a time until dough is heavy and thick.
  • Sprinkle on enough flour to handle then divide into two halves.
  • Put in two well greased coffee cans (1 pound) and cover with well-greased plastic lids. Let stand in warm place to rise.
