Ingredients
- ripe yellow cucumbers
- 2 gal. water
- 2 c. lime
- 3 oz. powdered alum
- 2 qt. white vinegar
- 2 qt. water
- 12 c. sugar
- 3 Tbsp. pickling spices
- 1 Tbsp. salt
- 1 Tbsp. celery seed
Method
- First Day:
- In the morning, peel cucumbers and cut out seed. Cut into lengthwise strips.
- Cucumbers should weigh 7 pounds after seeded and peeled.
- Soak 24 hours in water and lime.
