Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 lb. stewing beef
  • 1 Tbsp. vegetable oil
  • garlic powder
  • Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 c. water
  • 1 can pasta style stewed tomatoes
  • 1 green pepper, cut in medium size pieces
  • 4 potatoes, peeled and quartered
  • 5 carrots, scraped and cut into 1-inch pieces
  • 2 large onions, quartered
  • 1/2 medium rutabaga, cut into chunks
  • 1 can cream of mushroom soup

Method

  • Brown beef in oil; sprinkle with garlic powder and Worcestershire sauce.
  • Pour off excess grease.
  • Add tomatoes and one cup of water; add additional Worcestershire sauce if desired. Let simmer for about 45 minutes.
  • Put in carrots and rutabaga and cook for 20 minutes and add onions.
  • About 10 minutes later, add potatoes.
  • Cook until vegetables are done.
  • Stir in mushroom soup and blend well.
