Ingredients

  • 1 lb. round steak
  • 2 Tbsp. oil
  • 1 onion, sliced
  • 1 large green pepper, cut in strips
  • 1 tsp. salt
  • 1/4 Tbsp. pepper
  • 2 Tbsp. cornstarch
  • 1 c. hot water
  • 2 Tbsp. soy sauce
  • cooked hot rice

Method

  • Cut steak in narrow strips, brown slowly in oil about 15 minutes.
  • Add
  • onion
  • slices (separated in rings). Season with salt and pepper.
  • Stir and cook 5 more minutes.
  • Add hot water. Cover
  • and simmer until meat is almost done;
  • about 30 minutes. Add
  • green pepper strips and cook 10 more minutes.
  • Uncover. Add
  • mixture
  • of
  • cornstarch,
  • water
  • and
  • soy
  • sauce, stirring together.
  • Bring to a boil stirring constantly for 5 minutes or until thickened.
  • Serve over rice.
