Ingredients

  • 1 lb. top round steak
  • 1 Tbsp. butter
  • 1/4 c. chopped onion
  • 1 beef bouillon cube
  • 1/2 c. hot water
  • 1 green pepper, cut in 1-inch squares
  • 2 c. fresh sliced mushrooms
  • 2 Tbsp. dry white wine
  • salt and pepper

Method

  • Slice steak diagonally into 1/8-inch thick strips.
  • (Steak will slice easier if nearly frozen.)
  • Melt butter in skillet.
  • Add onion and cook until limp.
  • Remove from pan.
  • Add meat to skillet and brown on either side.
  • Return onion to skillet.
  • Dissolve bouillon in water; add to meat, cover and cook about 15 minutes. Add green pepper and mushrooms.
  • Cover and cook 5 minutes.
  • Add salt, pepper and wine; let cook 5 minutes longer.
