Ingredients

  • 2 (8-inch) pastry shells (unbaked)
  • 2 c. flour
  • 1 c. sugar
  • 1 tsp. baking powder
  • 1 stick butter or margarine
  • 1 c. dark molasses
  • 1 tsp. baking soda
  • 1 c. boiling water
  • pinch of salt
  • 1 egg, beaten

Method

  • Stir together flour, sugar and baking powder.
  • Cut in butter. In a separate bowl, mix molasses, baking soda and water.
  • Stir in salt, egg and two cups of flour-butter mixture.
  • Pour into prepared pie shells and sprinkle with remaining crumbs.
  • Bake at 375° for 45 minutes.
