Ingredients

  • 1/2 c. Crisco
  • 1/2 c. brown sugar, firmly packed
  • 1 c. all-purpose flour, sifted
  • 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 2 Tbsp. milk
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 c. brown sugar, packed
  • 2 Tbsp. all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 tsp. baking powder
  • 1 1/3 c. coconut, flaked
  • 1 c. pecans, chopped

Method

  • Preheat oven
  • to
  • 325°.
  • Blend Crisco and 1/2 cup brown sugar. Add
  • cup flour and salt.
  • Stir in milk.
  • Pat evenly in greased 9
  • 9 x 2-inch pan.
  • Bake for 20 minutes or until light brown. Beat
  • eggs;
  • add
  • 1 cup brown sugar and vanilla. Beat
  • until thick.
  • Stir in remaining ingredients.
  • Pour onto mixture in
  • pan. Bake
  • at 325° for 20 minutes or until golden brown.
  • Cool.
  • Frost and
  • garnish
  • with cherries, if desired. Cut into squares.
  • Makes 3 dozen.
