Ingredients

  • 1/4 c. vegetable shortening
  • 1/4 c. butter or margarine
  • 1/2 c. white sugar
  • 1/2 c. firmly packed brown sugar
  • 1 egg
  • 1/2 c. peanut butter
  • 1/4 tsp. vanilla extract
  • 1 1/2 c. all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp. soda
  • 1/4 tsp. salt

Method

  • Cream shortening and butter or margarine together until light and
  • fluffy.
  • Add sugar and cream until smooth.
  • Add egg and
  • beat well.
  • Beat
  • in peanut butter and vanilla.
  • Combine flour, soda and salt; add to creamed mixture.
  • Roll dough into balls
  • about
  • 1 inch
  • in
  • diameter.
  • Place
  • on greased cookie sheets and
  • flatten by pressing with tip of teaspoon.
  • Bake at 400° for 10 to 12 minutes.
  • Yield:
  • 4 dozen.
