Ingredients

  • 1 c. Karo syrup
  • 2 Tbsp. butter
  • 1 c. raw peanuts
  • 1 heaping tsp. baking soda
  • 3 c. sugar
  • 1/2 c. water
  • 1 tsp. salt
  • 1 tsp. vanilla

Method

  • Combine sugar, syrup
  • and water in 4-quart saucepan. Bring to a boil on medium heat.
  • Boil for 5 minutes. Add butter, peanuts and salt.
  • Boil until thick, stirring constantly.
  • Drop a little bit in cup of cold water.
  • If candy cracks, it is done.
  • Turn off stove. Add vanilla and baking soda.
  • Stir. (Be careful, mixture will bubble up and pop a little.)
  • Pour into 2 buttered 9 x 2 x 13-inch pans.
  • Let cool.
  • Break into pieces.
