Ingredients
- 2 1/2 c. flour
- 3 tsp. baking powder
- 1/2 tsp. salt
- 1/4 tsp. soda
- 1/2 c. brown sugar, packed
- 1/3 c. shortening
- 1/2 c. chopped pecans
- 1 egg
- 3/4 c. milk
- 1 c. sour cream
- 4 c. sliced fresh peaches (sweetened)
- 1/2 c. brown sugar
Method
- Heat oven to 375°.
- Grease round layer pan.
- Measure flour, baking powder, salt and soda into bowl.
- Cut in mixture 1/2 cup brown sugar and shortening until mixture looks like meal.
- Stir in pecans.
- Combine egg and milk.
- Blend into flour mixture.
- Put into pan.
- Bake 20 to 25 minutes or until toothpick comes out clean.
- Split cake while warm.
- Fill and top with peaches.
- Blend sour cream and 1/2 cup brown sugar.
- Serve with shortcake.
