Ingredients

  • 1 c. flour
  • 1/2 c. walnuts
  • 4 lb. ripe, unbruised peaches
  • 1 Tbsp. sugar
  • 1/3 c. sugar
  • 1/2 stick butter, at room temperature
  • 1 1/2 Tbsp. flour

Method

  • To make the topping, mix the flour and sugars in a bowl.
  • Cut the butter into small pieces; mix it into the flour by rubbing it into the mixture with fingertips.
  • Add walnuts.
  • Preheat oven to 375°.
  • Cut peaches in half, peel and remove pits.
  • Cut into slices.
  • Mix with flour and sugar (to taste).
  • Spread peaches in a 2-quart glass or ceramic ovenproof dish.
  • Sprinkle topping over peaches.
  • Bake until topping is brown and peaches are bubbly. You can serve with heavy cream.
