Ingredients
- 2 c. basmati rice
- 1 1/2 c. peas
- 3 whole cloves
- 4 whole black peppers
- 2 cardamom
- 3 Tbsp. oil
- salt to taste
Method
- Wash rice and let it soak for 15 minutes.
- Saute onions until golden brown.
- Add cloves, cardamom, black pepper and peas.
- Drain the rice and add it to the pot of onions and spices.
- Measure 3 1/2 cups of water and add to the rice mixture; add the salt.
- Cook over medium heat until water has evaporated.
- Cover with lid and turn to lowest temperature possible and let the rice sit for 5 minutes, then turn the heat off.
