Ingredients

  • 2 Tbsp. light corn syrup
  • 1/2 cup oleo
  • 1 cup packed brown sugar
  • 12 slices bread (may use Texas toast)
  • 6 eggs
  • 1-1/2 cups milk
  • 1 tsp. vanilla
  • 1/4 tsp. salt

Method

  • In a small saucepan, combine corn syrup, oleo and brown sugar.
  • Simmer until syrupy.
  • Put in bottom of 9 x 13 baking pan. Lay slices of bread over syrup.
  • Beat eggs, milk, vanilla and salt.
  • Pour over bread.
  • Cover pan and refrigerate overnight. Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
  • Uncover pan and bake for 45 minutes. Serve hot--can be reheated.
