Ingredients
- 1 1/2 cups sugar
- 1/2 cup cocoa
- 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
- 3 eggs, beaten
- 1 1/2 cups evaporated milk
- 1 1/2 cups water
- 3 tablespoons butter or margarine
- 1 1/2 teaspoons vanilla extract
- 1 baked (9-inch) pastry shell
- 1 cup whipping cream, whipped
Method
- Combine sugar, cocoa, and flour in a heavy saucepan; stir to remove lumps. Combine eggs, milk, and water in a mixing bowl. Gradually add milk mixture to cocoa mixture, stirring until well blended. Cook over medium heat, stirring constantly, until mixture thickens and comes to a boil. Cook 1 minute, stirring constantly. Remove from heat; add butter and vanilla, stirring until butter melts. Pour into pastry shell. Chill. Garnish with whipped cream.
