Ingredients
- 1 cake yeast
- 1 Tbsp. sugar
- 1 c. orange juice
- 1 tsp. salt
- 1 Tbsp. butter
- 1 tsp. grated orange rind
- 3 c. sifted flour
- 1/3 c. sugar
- 1/2 c. shredded candied orange peel
Method
- Combine yeast and sugar.
- Let stand a few minutes.
- Heat orange juice to lukewarm and add to yeast.
- Add remaining ingredients, except candied orange peel.
- Beat well.
- Let rise until doubled in bulk.
- Knead in orange peel on well floured board.
- Shape into a loaf and let rise until doubled in bulk, or until light.
- Bake in moderate oven (375°) 30 to 40 minutes. Makes 1 loaf.
