Ingredients

  • 1 lb. ground beef
  • 2 medium onions, chopped
  • 1 (28 oz.) can tomatoes
  • 3/4 c. chopped green peppers
  • 1/2 c. water
  • 1 (4 oz.) can mushroom stems and pieces, drained
  • 2 tsp. salt
  • 1 tsp. sugar
  • 1 tsp. chili powder
  • 1 (7 oz.) pkg. thin spaghetti, broken into pieces
  • 1 c. shredded Cheddar cheese (about 4 oz.)

Method

  • Cook and stir ground beef and onions in large skillet until beef is brown.
  • Drain off fat.
  • Stir in tomatoes (with liquid) and remaining ingredients except Cheddar cheese, break up tomatoes. Heat mixture to boiling.
  • Reduce heat.
  • Cover and simmer, stirring occasionally, until spaghetti is tender, about 30 minutes.
  • Add small amount of water if necessary.
  • Sprinkle with cheese.
  • Cover and heat until cheese is melted.
  • Makes 7 servings.
