Ingredients

  • 1/3 C shortening
  • 2 C all-purpose flour
  • 2 1/2 tsp. baking powder
  • 1 tsp. salt
  • 2/3-3/4 C milk

Method

  • Heat oven to 450 degrees.
  • Thoroughly cut shortening into flour, baking powder and salt.
  • Stir in just enough milk until dough leaves side of bowl and forms a ball.
  • Turn dough onto lightly floured surface.
  • Knead 10 times.
  • Roll or pat dough into 1/2 inch thick.
  • Cut with floured 2 1/2 inch cutter.
  • Place about 2 inches apart on ungreased cookie sheet.
  • Bake 10-12 minutes or until golden brown.
  • Yield about 8 biscuits.
