Ingredients

  • 2 Tbsp. oil
  • 2 lb. beef stew meat
  • 1 large onion
  • some garlic powder
  • 4 c. boiling water
  • 1 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 1 Tbsp. lemon juice
  • 1 tsp. sugar
  • 1 tsp. worcestershire
  • 1/2 tsp. pepper
  • 1/2 tsp. paprika
  • 1 - 2 bay leaves
  • 6 carrots
  • 6 medium potatoes
  • 1/3 c. barley

Method

  • Brown meat, add onion, garlic, boiling water, and spices. Simmer until meat is tender. Add vegetables and barley. Simmer until done. If using a crock pot: after browning meat put all ingredients into a crock pot and cook on low 7- 8 hours.
