- 1 c. seedless raisins
- 1 c. water
- 3/4 c. soft shortening
- 1 1/2 c. sugar
- 2 eggs
- 1 tsp. vanilla
- 2 1/2 c. flour
- 1 tsp. soda
- 1/2 tsp. baking powder
- 1 tsp. salt
- 1 tsp. cinnamon
- 1/2 tsp. cloves
- 2 c. rolled oats
- 1/2 c. chopped nuts
Method
- Simmer raisins and water in saucepan over low heat until raisins are plump, 20 to 30 minutes.
- Drain water into measuring cup.
- Add water to make 1/2 cup.
- Heat oven to 400°.
- Cream shortening, sugar, eggs and vanilla.
- Stir in raisin liquid. Blend flour, baking powder, soda, salt and spices.
- Stir in.
- Add rolled oats, nuts and raisins.
- Drop rounded teaspoonfuls 2-inches apart onto ungreased baking sheet.
- Bake 8 to 10 minutes.
