Ingredients

  • 1 large head cabbage
  • 1 1/2 lb. ground beef
  • 1 (15 oz.) can tomato sauce
  • 1 (8 oz.) can whole tomatoes
  • 1 c. herb stuffing mix
  • 1 medium onion, chopped
  • 1 1/4 tsp. salt
  • 2 cloves garlic, crushed
  • 1/2 c. water
  • grated Parmesan cheese

Method

  • Cut slice off top of cabbage; cut out inside, leaving 3/4-inch shell.
  • Reserve inside for cole slaw.
  • Heat oven to 375°.
  • Brown ground beef in 10-inch skillet; drain.
  • Stir in 1/2 cup tomato sauce, the tomatoes with liquid, stuffing mix, onion, garlic and salt.
  • Fill cabbage shell with mixture; place in Dutch oven.
  • Mix remaining tomato sauce and water; pour into Dutch oven around cabbage.
  • Cover and bake until tender, about 45 minutes.
  • Remove from Dutch oven; cut in 6 wedges.
  • Spoon hot tomato sauce over and sprinkle with Parmesan cheese.
