- 1 large head cabbage
- 1 1/2 lb. ground beef
- 1 (15 oz.) can tomato sauce
- 1 (8 oz.) can whole tomatoes
- 1 c. herb stuffing mix
- 1 medium onion, chopped
- 1 1/4 tsp. salt
- 2 cloves garlic, crushed
- 1/2 c. water
- grated Parmesan cheese
Method
- Cut slice off top of cabbage; cut out inside, leaving 3/4-inch shell.
- Reserve inside for cole slaw.
- Heat oven to 375°.
- Brown ground beef in 10-inch skillet; drain.
- Stir in 1/2 cup tomato sauce, the tomatoes with liquid, stuffing mix, onion, garlic and salt.
- Fill cabbage shell with mixture; place in Dutch oven.
- Mix remaining tomato sauce and water; pour into Dutch oven around cabbage.
- Cover and bake until tender, about 45 minutes.
- Remove from Dutch oven; cut in 6 wedges.
- Spoon hot tomato sauce over and sprinkle with Parmesan cheese.
