Ingredients
- 2 c. all-purpose flour
- 2 1/2 tsp. baking powder
- 1/2 tsp. baking soda
- 1/4 tsp. salt
- 1 Tbsp. sugar
- 1/2 c. margarine or shortening, softened
- 3/4 c. buttermilk
Method
- Mix dry ingredients in bowl.
- Cut in butter or shortening until mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
- With fork, stir in buttermilk to make soft dough.
- Turn into lightly floured board and knead about 10 times to form a soft ball.
- Roll out to a 6 x 6-inch square.
- Place on ungreased baking sheet.
- With knife, cut into 12 portions.
- Do not separate; leave in a square.
- Bake at 400° for about 15 minutes or until golden brown.
