Ingredients

  • 1 c. shortening
  • 3/4 c. brown sugar
  • 3/4 c. granulated sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 1/2 c. all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp. baking soda
  • 1 tsp. salt
  • 1 c. oatmeal, uncooked
  • 1 (12 oz.) pkg. semi-sweet chocolate bits

Method

  • Preheat oven to 350°.
  • In a large mixing bowl, cream the shortening, brown sugar and granulated sugar.
  • Add eggs and mix thoroughly. Combine the baking soda, salt and flour and add to creamed mixture.
  • Knead until thoroughly combined.
  • Add oatmeal and chocolate bits; continue to knead until well mixed. Drop by teaspoonfuls onto greased cookie sheet.
  • Bake 15 minutes. Yields 1 dozen.
