Ingredients

  • 1 c. shortening
  • 1 c. sugar
  • 1 c. brown sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 2 c. flour
  • 1 tsp. salt
  • 1 tsp. baking powder
  • 2 c. rolled oats
  • 1 c. chopped nuts
  • 16 oz. chocolate chips

Method

  • Thoroughly cream together the shortening, sugar and brown sugar.
  • Add eggs and beat well. Sift together the flour, soda and salt. Add flour mixture to creamed mixture and mix well.
  • Stir in oats, nuts and chocolate.
  • If desired, chill dough for easy handling. Shape dough into balls.
  • Place on ungreased cookie sheet and flatten balls with bottom of a sugar coated glass. Bake 8 to 10 minutes at 375°.
