Ingredients

  • 1/2 c. butter
  • 1 (3 oz.) pkg. cream cheese
  • 1 c. all-purpose flour
  • 1 egg, well beaten
  • 3/4 c. brown sugar
  • 1 Tbsp. butter, melted
  • 1 tsp. vanilla
  • 1/4 tsp. salt
  • 1/2 c. chopped pecans

Method

  • Cream softened butter and cream cheese.
  • Add to flour and cut in until mixture resembles coarse meal.
  • With lightly floured hands, form into a smooth ball.
  • Using a rounded teaspoonful of dough press into tiny cupcake pans so as to make a shell.
  • Combine egg, sugar, butter, vanilla and salt.
  • Mix well.
  • Stir in nuts and turn into shells.
  • Bake at 350° for 15 minutes, then at 250° for 10 minutes.
  • Cool before removing from pan.
  • Makes about 2 dozen tarts.
  • I put the nuts into the shells and spoon the egg mixture on top, instead of putting the nuts into the egg mixture.
