Ingredients
- 1/2 lb. butter
- 3 c. sugar
- 1 tsp. almond flavoring, lemon or vanilla
- 6 eggs
- 3 c. plain flour
- 1/2 pt. whipping cream
- 1 tsp. baking powder
- 1/2 tsp. salt
- 4 c. nuts (pecans, walnuts or both)
Method
- Cream the butter and sugar well, adding flavoring and eggs, one at a time. Beat well after each egg.
- Add flour and cream alternately.
- Blend in nuts and pour mixture into greased and floured pan.
- Put in cold oven and set at 325°.
- Bake for 1 1/2 hours.
- Makes one large pan or 10 small cakes. Bake small cakes for 1 hour.
- Leave 1-inch space between small pans.
- Fill about 1/2 full.
