Ingredients

  • 1/2 lb. butter
  • 3 c. sugar
  • 1 tsp. almond flavoring, lemon or vanilla
  • 6 eggs
  • 3 c. plain flour
  • 1/2 pt. whipping cream
  • 1 tsp. baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 4 c. nuts (pecans, walnuts or both)

Method

  • Cream the butter and sugar well, adding flavoring and eggs, one at a time. Beat well after each egg.
  • Add flour and cream alternately.
  • Blend in nuts and pour mixture into greased and floured pan.
  • Put in cold oven and set at 325°.
  • Bake for 1 1/2 hours.
  • Makes one large pan or 10 small cakes. Bake small cakes for 1 hour.
  • Leave 1-inch space between small pans.
  • Fill about 1/2 full.
