Ingredients
- 1 egg
- 1 1/4 c. sour milk
- 1/2 c. sugar
- 3 c. wheat flour (sift before measuring)
- 4 tsp. baking powder
- 3/4 tsp. baking soda
- 1 tsp. salt
- 1 c. coarsely chopped walnuts
Method
- Preheat oven to 325°.
- Grease a loaf bread pan.
- Sift flour, then measure 3 cups.
- Add the other dry ingredients to the flour. Beat the egg in a mixing bowl.
- Add the sour milk and sugar.
- Mix. Add the dry ingredients into the egg mixture.
- Add the nuts. Beat until well mixed.
- Pour into a greased bread pan.
- Bake at 325° for 1 hour or until done.
- Variation:
- Add dates, raisins or bananas.
