Ingredients
- 4 to 6 potatoes, peeled and diced
- 1 small onion, diced
- 2 to 3 stalks celery, diced
- water to cover vegetables
- 1/2 tsp. celery seed
- salt and pepper to taste
- 1 (12 oz.) can condensed milk (or whole milk)
- 1 Tbsp. flour or cornstarch
- 3 Tbsp. margarine or butter
Method
- Put vegetables in a large pot.
- Add water and spices.
- Bring to a boil; then cook on medium heat until tender.
- Mix the flour or cornstarch with a small amount of water until smooth; then add to the pot, stirring until well mixed.
- (If you use whole milk, you may need a little more flour or cornstarch.)
- Add milk and continue to stir.
- Continue to cook on low heat for about 5 minutes, until milk is well heated (do not boil).
- Add margarine or butter and stir.
