- 1 1/8 c. flour
- 1/2 tsp. salt
- 1/2 tsp. baking soda
- 1/2 c. shortening
- 1/2 c. white sugar
- 1/4 c. brown sugar
- 1 egg, beaten
- 1/4 tsp. hot water
- chocolate chips
- 1 c. rolled oats
- 1/2 tsp. vanilla
Method
- Cream shortening, adding sugars gradually until light and fluffy.
- Add eggs, one at a time, beating after each addition (for more than one recipe).
- Add hot water, then sifted dry ingredients.
- Add chocolate chips, oats and vanilla and blend thoroughly.
- Drop by teaspoons on greased cookie sheet.
- Bake at 375° for 6 to 8 minutes.
- Makes 3 1/2 dozen.
