Ingredients

  • 1/2 c. butter, softened
  • 1/2 c. packed light brown sugar
  • 1/4 c. sugar
  • 2 Tbsp. vanilla
  • 1/2 c. molasses
  • 1 egg
  • 3 c. flour
  • 1/2 c. ground walnuts
  • 1/2 Tbsp. baking soda
  • 1/2 Tbsp. ginger
  • 1/2 Tbsp. cardamom
  • 1/2 Tbsp. cinnamon
  • 1/2 Tbsp. allspice

Method

  • Mix softened butter, brown sugar, sugar, vanilla and molasses. Gradually add all other ingredients until dough is formed.
  • Wrap dough in plastic wrap.
  • Chill for 1 hour.
  • Divide dough in half. Roll to 1/8-inch thickness and shape with cutters.
  • Bake at 350° for 10 minutes.
