Ingredients

  • 1 c. milk
  • 1 c. water
  • 2 tsp. sugar
  • 1 pkg. dry yeast
  • 2 c. flour
  • 2/3 c. sugar
  • 1/2 heaping c. shortening
  • 1/2 c. warm water
  • 3 1/2 c. flour
  • 2 tsp. salt

Method

  • Warm milk and water; add sugar and yeast.
  • Stir until yeast dissolves.
  • Add 2 cups flour and beat until smooth.
  • Leave in warm place 20 minutes or 1 hour.
  • Add sugar, shortening, warm water, 3 1/2 cups flour and salt.
  • Use a big spoon to mix.
  • Set back and let rise until double.
  • Punch down; roll out and spread with butter, sugar and cinnamon.
  • Roll up into long roll; cut off 1-inch pieces. Place, spaced apart, in greased pans.
  • Let rise again.
  • Bake at 350°.
