Ingredients
- 3 eggs, lightly beaten
- 1 c. sugar
- 1 c. lard or shortening
- 1 c. molasses
- 2 tsp. soda
- 1 tsp. ginger
- 1 tsp. cinnamon
- 1 tsp. nutmeg
- 2 Tbsp. hot water
- 5 1/2 c. flour
Method
- Mix all ingredients except the flour together.
- Then add the flour to make a stiff dough.
- Place part of the dough on a lightly floured pastry cloth.
- Knead dough to desired consistency.
- Roll out about 1/8-inch thick.
- Cut with cookie cutter.
- Place on floured cookie sheet in a 325° oven until firm. Remove from sheet to wire rack immediately. Stores well in airtight container or in freezer.
