Ingredients

  • 3/4 c. soft margarine
  • 1 c. sugar
  • 1/4 c. dark molasses
  • 2 c. flour
  • 1 egg
  • 2 tsp. baking soda
  • 1/2 tsp. cloves
  • 1/2 tsp. ginger
  • 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 1 tsp. cinnamon
  • 1/2 c. sugar for coating before baking

Method

  • Cream margarine, egg, molasses and sugar together.
  • Add remaining ingredients.
  • Mix well.
  • Drop by rounded teaspoonful into sugar, coating all sides.
  • Place on cookie sheet 2 inches apart.
  • Bake at 350° for 10 to 15 minutes until crackled and golden brown.
  • Makes 3 dozen 2-inch cookies.
