- 5 c. chopped lean meat
- 2 1/2 c. chopped suet
- 7 1/2 c. chopped apples
- 3 c. liquor in which meat was cooked
- 5 c. sugar
- 3 c. cider
- 1/2 c. vinegar
- 1/2 lb. chopped citron
- 3 c. raisins (seedless)
- juice and grated rind of 2 lemons
- juice and grated rind of 2 oranges
- 2 Tbsp. cinnamon
- 1 Tbsp. cloves
- 2 Tbsp. allspice
- 1/4 tsp. grated nutmeg
Method
- Mix ingredients in order and let simmer over slow fire for 4 hours; stir often.
- Pack in hot jars and seal at once.
- Process 10 minutes.
- Makes 6 quarts.
