Ingredients

  • 2 c. rolled oats
  • 1 3/4 c. sifted flour
  • 1/2 tsp. baking soda
  • 1 c. brown sugar, packed
  • 1 c. shortening
  • 1 1/2 c. moist mincemeat
  • 1/2 c. ground pecans

Method

  • Put oats through food chopper on coarse blade.
  • Add flour, soda and sugar.
  • Mix thoroughly. Cut in shortening until mixture is crumbly. Divide into 2 parts.
  • Pack half firmly in oiled 7 1/2 x 11-inch pan. Spread mincemeat evenly on top, then add remaining dough and pack firmly. Bake in oven at 350° for 40 minutes. Cool good.
  • Cut into 14 to 16 bars.
