Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 lb. ground beef
  • 1 egg
  • 1/2 c. chopped onion
  • 2 (8 oz.) cans tomato sauce
  • 1 tsp. salt
  • 1 tsp. pepper
  • 2 c. shredded Mozzarella cheese
  • 3/4 c. Italian style bread crumbs

Method

  • Combine beef, bread crumbs, egg, onion, 1/3 cup tomato sauce, salt and pepper.
  • Mix well.
  • Shape into flat rectangle, about 10 x 14-inch on a piece of wax paper.
  • Sprinkle cheese evenly over mixture; roll up like a jelly roll and press ends of roll to seal. Bake in a shallow pan 1 hour at 350°.
  • Drain excess fat; put remaining sauce over roll.
  • Add more shredded cheese.
  • Bake 15 minutes more.
