Ingredients
- 2 c. sugar
- 1/2 c. shortening
- 1 c. buttermilk
- 1 tsp. soda
- 2 sq. chocolate
- 1/2 c. hot water
- 2 c. flour
- 1 tsp. vanilla
- 2 eggs
Method
- Cream shortening and sugar.
- Melt chocolate in water on stove and add
- to
- creamed
- mixture.
- Add
- soda to buttermilk, then add flour
- and milk alternately to mixture.
- Add vanilla, then eggs and mix (eggs must be added last or the cake will be ruined). Bake in 8-inch square or 9-inch round layers or in 9 x 13-inch pan at 350°
- for
- 25 minutes. May bake as cupcakes too.
