Ingredients

  • 3 lb. white flour
  • 2 Tbsp. baking powder
  • 3/4 to 1 c. shortening
  • 4 c. warm water

Method

  • Mix dry ingredients.
  • Cut shortening into mix.
  • Add water slowly; pour a little, then stir, pour, then stir.
  • Sprinkle in more flour if too sticky.
  • You need to have consistency of bread dough.
  • Knead 5 minutes.
  • Pinch off a large ball.
  • Form into large, round biscuit size mound 1/2-inch thick and 2-inches around.
  • Continue to make rounds until all dough is used.
  • Roll each to form flat pancake.
