Ingredients

  • 1 Tbsp. salad oil
  • 1 medium-size onion, chopped
  • 1 medium-size green pepper, chopped
  • 1 lb. lean ground beef
  • 2 (15 oz.) cans tomato sauce
  • 3/4 (16 oz.) pkg. mostaccioli or ziti macaroni
  • 1 (8 oz.) pkg. shredded Cheddar cheese (2 c.)

Method

  • About 45 minutes before serving:
  • In 12-inch skillet, over medium heat, in hot salad oil, cook onion and green pepper until tender.
  • Stir in ground beef.
  • Over medium-high heat, cook until pan juices evaporate and meat is browned.
  • Spoon off fat, if any. Stir in tomato sauce and 3/4 cup water.
  • Heat to boiling.
  • Reduce heat to medium-low, cover and simmer 25 minutes to blend flavors.
