Ingredients
- 1 Tbsp. salad oil
- 1 medium-size onion, chopped
- 1 medium-size green pepper, chopped
- 1 lb. lean ground beef
- 2 (15 oz.) cans tomato sauce
- 3/4 (16 oz.) pkg. mostaccioli or ziti macaroni
- 1 (8 oz.) pkg. shredded Cheddar cheese (2 c.)
Method
- About 45 minutes before serving:
- In 12-inch skillet, over medium heat, in hot salad oil, cook onion and green pepper until tender.
- Stir in ground beef.
- Over medium-high heat, cook until pan juices evaporate and meat is browned.
- Spoon off fat, if any. Stir in tomato sauce and 3/4 cup water.
- Heat to boiling.
- Reduce heat to medium-low, cover and simmer 25 minutes to blend flavors.
