Ingredients

  • 1 c. margarine, melted
  • 1/2 c. brown sugar
  • 1 Tbsp. cold water
  • 2 1/2 c. flour
  • 1 tsp. soda
  • 1/2 c. white sugar
  • 2 egg yolks
  • 1 tsp. vanilla
  • 1/4 tsp. salt
  • 12 oz. pkg. chocolate chips
  • 1 c. chopped nuts
  • 2 egg whites
  • 1 c. brown sugar

Method

  • Mix margarine, brown sugar, water, flour, soda, white sugar, egg yolks, vanilla and salt together.
  • Spread and press onto greased cookie sheet with sides.
  • Sprinkle chopped nuts and chocolate chips on top and press in slightly.
  • Whip egg whites until stiff and add 1 cup of brown sugar and beat well.
  • Spread over top of dough.
  • Bake at 350° for 25 to 30 minutes.
  • Let cool and cut as brownies.
