Ingredients

  • 4 eggs
  • 2 c. sugar
  • 2 tsp. vanilla
  • 2 c. flour
  • 2 tsp. baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 4 tsp. cinnamon (optional)
  • 1/2 c. milk
  • 2 Tbsp. butter

Method

  • Grease and flour a 13 x 9-inch cake pan.
  • Separate yolks from whites.
  • Beat egg yolks until thick and lemon colored.
  • Beat egg whites until stiff, but not dry.
  • Add egg whites to yolks.
  • Beat in sugar.
  • Add vanilla.
  • Sift together flour, baking powder, salt and cinnamon.
  • Add dry ingredients to egg mixture, a small amount at a time.
  • Scald milk.
  • Add butter to milk and let melt.
  • Add milk and butter to first mixture and blend well.
  • Bake in moderate oven, 325° to 350°, for 40 minutes.
