Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 lbs. ground beef
  • 1 (28 oz.) can tomatoes
  • 1 (14 oz.) can tomato sauce
  • 2 envelopes spaghetti sauce mix (Lawrey's)
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 8 oz. lasagna noodles
  • 2 (6-8 oz.) pkgs. Mozzarella cheese, sliced thin
  • 1 c. creamed cottage cheese
  • 1/2 c. grated Parmesan cheese

Method

  • Brown meat slowly; drain off excess fat.
  • Add next four ingredients.
  • Cover and simmer 40 minutes, stirring occasionally. Add small amounts of water if necessary.
  • Salt to taste.
  • Cook noodles in boiling, salted water until tender, following package instructions.
  • Drain, rinse in cold water.
  • Place 1/3 of noodles in 9 X 13 baking dish; cover with 1/3 of sauce, then layer 1/2 of Mozzarella and 1/2 of cottage cheese.
  • Repeat layers, ending with sauce.
  • Top with Parmesan.
  • Bake at 350° for 45 minutes or until heated through.
  • Let stand 15 minutes.
  • Cut in squares.
  • Can be prepared ahead and frozen.
