Ingredients
- 1 c. butter
- 2 c. sugar
- 3 1/4 c. flour
- 3/4 tsp. salt
- 3 1/2 tsp. baking powder
- 1/2 c. homogenized milk
- 1/2 c. evaporated milk
- 1 tsp. vanilla
- 8 egg whites
Method
- Cream butter and sugar; sift flour, salt and baking powder 3 times.
- Add small amounts of flour to creamed mixture alternately with milk, beating until smooth after each addition.
- Add flavoring.
- Beat egg whites until fluffy, but not dry, and fold in.
- Grease three 9-inch layer cake pans lightly and line bottoms with waxed paper.
- Bake in preheated oven (350°) for 25 to 30 minutes or until cake springs back when tested.
