Ingredients
- 1 c. shortening (include few tsp. butter)
- 1/2 c. sugar
- 3 eggs
- 2 yeast cakes
- 1/2 c. lukewarm water
- 1 tsp. sugar
- 1 Tbsp. salt
- 6 c. plain flour
- 3/4 c. condensed milk
Method
- Mix yeast with lukewarm water and 1 teaspoon sugar.
- Cream shortening; add 1/2 cup sugar and cream well.
- Add eggs, one at a time and beat well.
- Add yeast mix and salt; mix well.
- Add flour alternately with condensed milk with 1/2 cup lukewarm water.
- Knead dough until it stops sticking to fingers.
- Divide into five equal portions.
- Roll about 1/4 inch thick on floured surface.
- Spread filling over dough.
- Roll up and brush top with melted margarine. Put in greased pan, set in warm place for 1 hour and let rise. Bake at 375° until nice and brown.
