Ingredients

  • 1 c. shortening (include few tsp. butter)
  • 1/2 c. sugar
  • 3 eggs
  • 2 yeast cakes
  • 1/2 c. lukewarm water
  • 1 tsp. sugar
  • 1 Tbsp. salt
  • 6 c. plain flour
  • 3/4 c. condensed milk

Method

  • Mix yeast with lukewarm water and 1 teaspoon sugar.
  • Cream shortening; add 1/2 cup sugar and cream well.
  • Add eggs, one at a time and beat well.
  • Add yeast mix and salt; mix well.
  • Add flour alternately with condensed milk with 1/2 cup lukewarm water.
  • Knead dough until it stops sticking to fingers.
  • Divide into five equal portions.
  • Roll about 1/4 inch thick on floured surface.
  • Spread filling over dough.
  • Roll up and brush top with melted margarine. Put in greased pan, set in warm place for 1 hour and let rise. Bake at 375° until nice and brown.
