Ingredients
- 1 c. warm water
- 1 tsp. sugar
- 1 pkg. dry yeast
- 2 eggs
- 5 1/2 to 6 c. bread flour
- 1 c. boiling water
- 2 tsp. salt
- 1/2 c. shortening or 1 stick margarine
- 1/3 c. sugar
Method
- Mix warm water, 1 teaspoon sugar and yeast; set aside.
- Add salt, 1/3 cup sugar and shortening to 1 cup boiling water.
- Add 2 cups flour and beat well.
- Add yeast mixture, beaten eggs and balance of the flour.
- Beat until smooth.
- Cover and keep in icebox until ready to use.
- Shape in rolls or loaf pan.
- Bake at 350° for 10 minutes, reduce heat and bake 10 minutes more for loaf pans.
- Grease tops with margarine last 5 minutes.
- Makes 36 rolls or 2 loaves.
